چکیده
We would like to correct the typo with regard to Reference 28 in our manuscript. Reference 28 should read [28] W.K. Liu, D.W. Kim, S. Tang, Mathematical foundations of the immersed finite element method, Computational Mechanics 39 (2007) 211–222. We would also like to point out another review paper on this subject by X. Wang, Issues of immersed boundary/continuum methods, Contemporary Mathematics 466 (2008) 147–177. We apologize for mixing these two papers together in our initial publication.

On computational issues of immersed finite element methods
The objective of this paper is to provide a review of recent finite element formulations for immersed methods. In these finite element formulations, independent Lagrangian solid meshes are introduced to move on top of a background Eulerian fluid mesh. This key feature allows the handling, without excessive fluid mesh adaptation, multiple deformable solids immersed in viscous fluid. In particula...
متن کاملGradient recovery for elliptic interface problem: II. Immersed finite element methods
This is the second paper on the study of gradient recovery for elliptic interface problem. In our previous work [H. Guo and X. Yang, 2016, arXiv:1607.05898], we developed a novel gradient recovery technique for finite element method based on body-fitted mesh. In this paper, we propose new gradient recovery methods for two immersed interface finite element methods: symmetric and consistent immer...
متن کاملSuperconvergence of partially penalized immersed finite element methods
The contribution of this paper contains two parts: first, we prove a supercloseness result for the partially penalized immersed finite element (PPIFE) methods in [T. Lin, Y. Lin, and X. Zhang, SIAM J. Numer. Anal., 53 (2015), 1121–1144]; then based on the supercloseness result, we show that the gradient recovery method proposed in our previous work [H. Guo and X. Yang, J. Comput. Phys., 338 (20...
متن کاملPartially implicit motion of a sharp interface in Navier-Stokes flow
We develop a numerical method for the coupled motion of Navier-Stokes flow with an elastic interface of zero thickness which exerts tension and bending forces on the fluid. The interface motion is made partially implicit by approximating a backward Euler step in the high wavenumbers as in the small scale decomposition method of Hou, Lowengrub and Shelley. This modified step is combined with the...
متن کاملA new method for simulating rigid body motion in incompressible twophase flow
Computational treatment of immersed rigid bodies, especially in the presence of free surfaces and/or breaking waves, poses several modeling challenges. A motivating example where these systems are of interest is found in offshore wave energy harvesting systems, where a floating structure converts mechanical oscillations to electrical energy. In this study, we take the first step in developing a...
